It's #Spacetober day 10: Earth

Illustration of a hand cradling the Earth, perhaps depicting a divine event such as Creation, or else symbolising Earth's fragility, and our responsibility for its degradation.

#SciArt #spaceart

Digital illustration, mostly in shades of blue. The planet Earth, glowing, is held within a giant human hand. North and South America are visible.

#Spacetober day 9: landing

Animation of SpaceX's reusable rocket Starship landing on the surface of Mars.

#Spacetober Day 8: #Supernova

My first animation ever! A star fires off gamma-ray jets, explodes, and the sky goes quiet again.

GRB 250314A, the earliest supernova seen yet, after an illustration by Leah Hustak (NASA/STScI)

#Spacetober Day 8: #Supernova

Part 1, the opening salvo: the gamma-ray burst of GRB 250314A lasted about 10 seconds, but the supernova took months to brighten.

My mad plan is to make this into an animation 😀

After an illustration by Leah Hustak (NASA/STScI)

#pixelart #sciart #JWST #spaceart

Pixel art of supernova GRB 250314A at the moment of its gamma-ray burst, based on an illustration by NASA and STScI, Leah Hustak. Against dark blue-green-purple space full of stars, a small lumpy blue cloud glows at the centre where the star is exploding. Two thin jets of light shoot out from it in opposite directions, each ending in a bright white-purple blob, one towards the upper left and another towards the lower right.

It's #Spacetober day 8, supernova.

The searing explosion of a Type Ia supernova marks the end of a white dwarf's life. Its companion star, from which it was accreting gas, is ejected in the event. It will forever speed through space like a cosmic pinball.

#SciArt #spaceart

Graphic depicts a supernova explosion. Shells of coloured gas - red, green, orange, white - expand outward from the epicentre. Lower right, an orange star is seen speeding away from the blast, kicked out during the event

#Spacetober Day 7: #Venus

At least this one is on time!

It was fun to realise that Venus looks a little like a solidified Sun. Or a tiger roll with molten cheese on it. I still insist it's a planet, though 😁

#pixelart #spaceart #sciart #astronomy

Pixel art of the planet Venus as a full disc against greenish fillaments of space, based on NASA's Magellan radar map of the surface hidden beneath its clouds. The planet is burnt orange and rusty brown, with bright yellow-white streaks winding across it like glowing cracks, densest in a band across the lower middle. Dark brown blotches are scattered near the top and edges. "Venus" is written in the top left corner, with my signature in the bottom left.

#Spacetober Day 4: Mercury

I love #space – can't help but join, even if I'm late.

I adore the colourful images of #Mercury from the MESSENGER mission. Its surface has so many features and hues. I like to think of it as a sparkly marble on the seafloor.

#pixelart #spaceart #sciart #BepiColombo

Pixel art of the planet Mercury as a full disc, based on the enhanced-colour image from NASA's MESSENGER mission. The cratered surface is mostly deep blue and violet, mixed with patches of tan and orange-gold and scattered bright yellow and white spots. Near the centre, a bright crater sends thin rays streaking across the surface, and a dark ridge runs down from the top edge. A subtle bluish swirl of space against black space is dotted with stars. "Mercury" is written in the top left corner.

It's #Spacetober day 7, Venus. #SciArt #spaceart

Artwork of the Venera 9 spacecraft on the surface of Venus. The Venera probes were a series of ten successful missions sent to Venus by the Soviet Union in the 1970s. Venera 9 was launched on 8 June 1975.

A, hazy, yellow and rocky landscape, barren of life. The surface of Venus. Left of centre, sitting on an outcrop of rock, is the Venera 9 lander. There is lightning in the sky, although whether Venus has lightning is disputed.

06 - Robotic Explorer
Los droides de servicio de la linea S cumplen muchas funciones en la galaxia, todo dependiendo de quien los comisionó.

Como por ejemplo los droides de Navegación, Exploración y Rescate.

It's #Spacetober day 6, rover/robotic explorer.

Exploration of Europa

In the future, a probe descents into an ice chasm on Jupiter's moon, Europa. Jupiter is seen in the sky, with another moon, Io, in transit.

#SciArt #spaceart

Illustration in acrylic, modified in Photoshop. We are inside a chasm on Jupiter's moon Europa. Jupiter is seen in the sky with Io in front of it. The landscape is a mix of rocks and ice. A probe is descending into the chasm, emitting light that illuminates the chasm wall nearby.

#spacetober Day 4 - Mercury

Mercurio es el planeta más interior del Sistema Sol.

La cercanía al sol y exposición al fuerte viento solar causa la liberación de atomos de sodio de la superficie, provocando una cola tipo cometa.

#spacetober Day 2 - Galaxy
La Vía Láctea es nuestra galaxia hogar, un enorme hogar de unos 100 mil años luz de longitud.

Y quien sabe, muy probablemente compartimos este hogar con otras civilizaciones más. 🪐
