At 9:13 when the voice starts getting more chaotic, it immediately grabbed my attention. I would want to try something like that in my own work where the voice slowly changes or gets more intense instead of staying the same the whole time. #soundstudy

What stood out to me was how the silence and music between the speaking parts started to feel important too. Before this, I probably wouldve just waited for the words, but now I was paying attention to what the audio was doing even when nobody was talking. #soundstudy

I was confused why the audio jumped from calm to screaming-- it depicts contrast i'm guessing! #soundstudy

I enjoyed the audio a lot more than I had thought I would and as a typical visual learning I will look more into audios and having them create more of a picture for me through noises and music #soundstudy

At 9:13, the ending stood out to me because the repeated words and the strings coming back made it feel almost stuck in my head. With only audio, I noticed those small sound changes way more than I probably would with visuals. #soundstudy

something that the audio did to me was make me more aware of my ears and ability to listen keenly-- I definitely wouldn't have been more receptive of these abstract sounds if I hadn't read TMITM before #soundstudy

the audio had helped me trigger certain emotions through the noises and sounds in various ways, and how it has altered the entire experience of The Medium is the Massage, creating more depth #soundstudy

I think around 7:59 or 8:00 mins, I was rly surprised because I was listening to calm orchestral music and baam, it turns into screaming and a lady talking abt "the peter pan children's playground" It would've hit differently w/ imagery, for sure because I'd be able to see it #soundstudy

7:40-8:00 when the narrator is describing herself and how small she is, a visual would have helped tremendously because sometimes what we picture may not be how it actually is. The lack of visuals helped me just go with what I pictured it being in my head #soundstudy

3. I've got to say that this reminds me a lot of caretaker's album on dementia. Everything is fine at first and joyous with a hint of pure silence. But things start slowly slipping through the cracks one by one. Cracks in reality. Things that you didn't notice. Really creepy stuff eugghh #soundstudy

I'll be honest, if there is a deeper message, I'm not sure I grasped it. To me, this is a weirdly soothing experience, being forced to be a little creative rather than being spoon-fed what to think. #soundstudy

2. The audio is really making me question why things in the audio are as calm, lively, and mundane as they are. Is there something else going on? What possible images could there be with the audio and why am I thinking of them? I'm trying to use the McLuhan extension for this. #soundstudy

After absorbing TMITM, and honestly hwa2, I feel like instead of trying to pick apart the audios. I was approaching the audio, listening to the entire thing and how they worked together. Trying to figure out what kind of emotions they'd evoke. #soundstudy

1. 9:05 Fleeting, fizzing, fragments. Like I mentioned earlier that haunted me from the calming and lively audio that I've been hearing ever since and its shaking the reality of the audio. #soundstudy

The lack of visuals forces you to create imagery in your head. With the clash of so many different noises, it can feel a bit overwhelming or seem chaotic in the scene you are imagining. I think it's a very different vibe it gives off that it couldn't have achieved if it used visuals. #soundstudy

@shurelysha1lly.bsky.socialSep 21, 2026, 3:20 AM

the contrast between the audio and the narration at 7:59 is steal worthy. definetly dramatic enough to make an impact. #soundstudy

@shurelysha1lly.bsky.socialSep 21, 2026, 3:18 AM

this audio made me feel a lot more nostalgia. it was like i was at the beach, a festival, a diner. everything felt more real and longing rather than inquisitive. it definitely plays much more with emotions than anything else. #soundstudy

@shurelysha1lly.bsky.socialSep 21, 2026, 3:17 AM

7:59: this part took me so off-guard for some reason because I couldn't identify what it was at first. the random scream? it was blood-curdling until it fused into something joyous. i think the confusion of not having any visuals made it more impactful to genuinely realize the context #soundstudy

@jaredjunioryear.bsky.socialSep 21, 2026, 2:51 AM

An interesting thing I could steal for my own work is how at the end of the segment the voice started to get crazy. That is a really cool idea and something to try and find a way to incorporate into my own work as it hooked me. #soundstudy

@jaredjunioryear.bsky.socialSep 21, 2026, 2:48 AM

The general idea of the audio honestly. Like the way it just played music and randomly had a short narration. I do not think I would have appreciated the in-between of the narrations as much before reading the Medium is the Massage. #soundstudy
