I'm too late to watch–and missed the intro😭–but recorded #SoThisIsParis for later. I need to see more George Beranger! While watching early Douglas Fairbanks movies, this guy with a small part somehow stole the movie Flirting With Fate (1916) out from under Fairbanks and I never forgot it! #TCMParty

A screenshot from the movie Flirting With Fate, which has a pretty amusing premise.
In the foreground, in the center-right, is Douglas Fairbanks, looking offscreen and adjusting his cuffs as he leans forward to leave the scene. This is the man you can't take your eyes off of in any of his movies. But there, in the background, on the far left, for some reason, is a guy looking right at the camera, with a big goofy open-mouthed smile, raised eyebrows and lit up eyes. He also has a big moustache. Your eyes go right to him. What he's doing makes no sense but he was so funny to me in this movie. Even in my "I love Douglas Fairbanks" mood at the time, I suddenly could have cared less about Fairbanks and had to know who the heck this man was. This man is George Beranger. Maybe there is no other movie where he will ever be quite as amusing as this, but it's worth finding out.

The restoration and preservation on #SoThisIsParis is breathtaking. Every feather and bangle is clear as yesterday's film. #SilentSundayNights #TCM #TCMParty
