Here is an explanation of our ELEvo model for predicting the arrival times of #solarstorms at Earth and the spacecraft STEREO-A and Solar Orbiter.

There are 2 slow #solarstorms on the way to Earth, erupting on early Tuesday Oct 6 and predicted to arrive Friday Oct 9. The predicted arrival times spread 01:00 UT to 16:00 UT on Oct 9. Given their slow speed (400-500 km/s), high-latitude #aurora is possible, but not likely for lower latitudes.

The NASA CCMC scoreboard, to which many teams in the world submit their realtime predictions for incoming #solarstorms, has just been relaunched with a new look:

We have a new @science.esa.int Solar Orbiter science nugget out on our paper published earlier this year. It is about power laws that describe how the magnetic field in #solarstorms decreases between the ☀️ and 🌍 - even from 0.07 to 5.4 astronomical units!
