Elexon has developed proposals for a Smart Data Repository (SDR) with a potential scope covering the storage, management and sharing to third parties of half-hourly electricity consumption. Delivering this through the SDR best meets the objectives and
principles of the Energy Digitalisation Framework which now strategically governs the development of energy digitalisation, in particular the "efficient and cost-effective" and "deliverable" principles, given the option of utilising the SDR delivers at lower cost and at greater speed than alternative options that would involve duplicate stores of this data. Ofgem's position is that the Elexon SDR should contain all available half-hourly electricity consumption data and associated Meter Point Administration Numbers. In this statutory consultation, we seek views on the licence and code modification proposals to enable the establishment and operation of such a data repository. We welcome views from all parties with an interest in energy system digitalisation.
