WIP extract book 2 of 6 SlenderWolf In With the In Crowd Chapter 1 Navigating Stormy Waters The monsoon rains torment the Irish Sea during the summer months, and this year, they seem to have arrived ahead of schedule. Yet, for all their early arrival, they are unexceptional … lacking any real intensity. Compared to the tropics, the storms manifest as sharper, briefer afternoon showers or sudden thunderstorms. Although they cause temporary disruption, the total rainfall remains modest. Consequently, the monsoons seldom disturb the rhythm of life for long. The sense of crisis is largely an illusion, born only from the occasional frustration of delayed shipping. In Wolfland in 2451AD this has an impact on day to day life. WIP extract book 2 of 6 SlenderWolf In With the In Crowd Chapter 3 A Microcosm of Society Hayley is the one exception. Nine year old Hayley Wilde is Sylvie Wilde’s authentic niece, and she know knows the truth about AuntSylvie and OpenMike. She also knows that she has to keep it to herself. More than any of the other orphans, Hayley looks upon them as her surrogate parents. Her best friend Tommy Reid is not very far behind. Hayley and FullyCharged seem to be inseparable buddies when they’re at home in the Noble Coliseum. Aside from this pseudo family, the only other person who calls FullyCharged by his real name is the primary school teacher Madame Troyes. The summer holidays, without a daily dose of their best friends at school, Robin and SkippyNightmare, mean that Hayley and FullyCharged are spending more time in the company of AuntSylvie and Mr Rafone. All the youngsters follow the protocol of calling him Mr Rafone, until they finish school.
