Again
The scream inside my mind
Is a #siren of insanity
Drawing me deeper still
Into fits of pure profanity
I struggle to break free
But repetition is consuming me
The scream inside my mind
Is a #siren of insanity…

Yours
'Tis the #lure of a sly tongue that snares me
Topped with the honeyed delivery of a kiss—
I am now defenless in seduction's arms
And I surrender all to temptation.
"Writing is like driving
at night in the fog.
You can only see as far
as your headlights,
but you can make
the whole trip that way."
-E.L. Doctorow

Day Fourteen. I told you that Harold’s second favorite thing about the library is seeing the kindergarten children visiting for story hour.
I didn’t tell you Harold’s most favorite thing about the library.

Am I a writer, a novelist? Am I a recovering alcoholic?
Am I both? Is that ok?
That is so much more than ok.
Brings us to our current reboot, going strong. Helping is heavy simulated-commutes on the company CycloneCycles® & proper meals.
Harold’s learning to cook on the double hot-plate in his quarters, focusing on soup: tomato, hot&sour, minestrone.
What soups feed your restoration?

Day Seven.
At first things don’t go well for Harold Tribune. His One Hundred Day journey toward sobriety presents a challenge after about Day Ten.
What helps me during the evening Witching Hours these days is all the volunteer work I’ve been asked to do.
If I was a lawyer, I’d call it pro-bono work. Since I’m more schmuck than lawyer, I call it a Labor of Love.
It keeps me on the wagon.
I appreciate that nobody’s asked what happens after Day 100, since I haven’t thought about it much. Keep on going, I guess. The point is to reach Day 100 having reaped the benefits of sobriety and wanting more. Maybe work to spread the word.
Drive Me to Drink is a possible title for the book I’m writing about Harold Tribune and his effort to go 100 days without drinking alcohol.
Day Five. This is not my first time trying this. I tried in July and made it to Day Ten. I fact checked this. I fell off the wagon after a long day at a writers conference.
Writers drive me to drink!
Fall Romp
See them scatter in the wind
Amid #autumnal cascades
As we jump into piles made
Of leaves in seasonal shades
Composing playgrounds of feverish glee
For all to admire laughingly.
Shaken
With every stake
Love straight to the heart does take
Pain always escapes—
Even wills of steal may break
Under pressure of such quakes.
Tailor Made
Needles sew dissent
Whether through bothersome pricks,
Or well-patterned intent—
The sharpest points made
May readily invade
With ties that tightly bind
Or splinters dug from minds
Closed in simpler ways.
