Raiders made it interesting, and that's encouraging.

@lesonsports.bsky.socialThe culture is here. We knew this going back to training camp and preseason. The 3-1 start validated it. The Raiders almost won today, and that speaks well of the culture. Add better talent to go with experience and you got a great team ready.
@lesonsports.bsky.socialThe Raiders can play with anyone. They can be a playoff team. This team is not a cute story.

@lesonsports.bsky.socialYou have to love Kirk managing another good game. He did all he could. He has earned the right to see this through here.

@lesonsports.bsky.socialMatt Gay was terrific. The Raiders needed all of his points. He has had a good start to this season.

@lesonsports.bsky.socialWhen do we reach the point where Adrian Jeanty should be on the IR? He has nothing. At this point, there has to be a conversation, no?

@lesonsports.bsky.socialJ.J. Watt is an upgrade over Tony Romo.

@lesonsports.bsky.socialThe Raiders don't have a home-field advantage in Las Vegas. The fans were fine today, but being in a dome stadium doesn't really help the Raiders. They needed to be in LA.

@lesonsports.bsky.socialReally thought the Raiders would tie it and go to OT. That would have been so cool. The Raiders were so close. Unfortunately, time was of the essence.

@lesonsports.bsky.socialRaiders/Chiefs rivalry needs to be back. It would be great for the league when you look at that history going back to the AFL days. If today is any indication, football fans need it back.

My column:
@lesonsports.bsky.socialThe Raiders will beat the Saints on Sunday.
Let's not confuse the Saints to the 2009 Saints that won the Super Bowl. Yes, the Saints are an improved team like the Raiders, but this is winnable.

@lesonsports.bsky.socialI'm looking forward for the next five games. It's time for the Raiders to embrace the competition. The Raiders can win some games against them such as the game at New Orleans. Games like that can only sharpen a team. The Raiders will be up to the task.
@lesonsports.bsky.socialAnother great coaching performance by Klint and the staff today. This is what culture is, folks. You did not see a team panic at all today. You saw a team grinding it out and finding a way to win. The Raiders are the antithesis of the Chargers.
@lesonsports.bsky.socialThe play of the game was Nakobe forcing Hampton to fumble that Chenn recovered that helped put Kirk throw a TD to Cody White (what a day for him). That was your dagger.
@lesonsports.bsky.socialLike the Vikings this afternoon, you can say the same thing about being lucky is better than good for the Raiders, but then again you can even say well-coached teams create their own luck, which is the case for the Raiders.
@lesonsports.bsky.socialThe 12 men on the field could have been costly for the Raiders in the end. We would have been talking about. Thankfully, we don't have to after Hampton fumbled that one. That was a gift.
@lesonsports.bsky.socialThe defense had another good game, which they got 10 hits, three sacks and 3 takeaways. Maybe it ain't as bad as I thought it would be. I was wrong. We will see if they keep this up, but the first two games have to be an encouraging trend.
@lesonsports.bsky.socialWhat happened to Ashton Jeanty? Let's chalk this up to one bad game. He's entitled to one.

@lesonsports.bsky.socialKirk is not going to be pretty to watch, but one thing about him: He's an adult in the room who knows how to manage a game and makes plays when he has to.
