On this #NationalDaughtersDay, celebrating No. 1 Daughter Emma "The Duchess" as I call her. Royal, yes, but no princess; a lady in her own right, and that's no mistake.
Hard to believe that this amazing person that once had to hold my hand crossing the street is now a nurse in Johnson City, saving lives, able to deliver shots/vaccinations to scared kids & adults without them noticing it happened, working hard and double-checking doctor's prescription orders to make sure all is correct for her patients. She is a caring soul, someone who gives a damn about others no matter who they are and a holy terror when someone expects her to compromise her principles, and I love her for that.
Witty, charming, devastatingly intelligent, she keeps me hopeful and grounded (while chiding me that I'm apparently old enough to remember dinosaurs wandererd through my yard when I was much younger) and always happy when I can visit with her when possible, even if it is for a short time.
