Castro & Market, 1958
A view from the platform entering the Twin Peaks tunnel. A Muni M-line streetcar about to cross the intersection, traffic all around and passenger waiting, just a nice dynamic shot. I do a lot of repetitive streetcar shots, but this one just kind speaks. #sfmemory #sfhistory

Market & Castro, sometime in summer 1958, View northeast on Market from Castro, Muni M-line PCC street car #1109 about to enter the Twin Peaks Tunnel, a taxicab and traffic heading westerly on Market, Billboards for Coca-Cola and Redlick's Department Store (17 reasons Why) at right. the tower of Trinity Methodist Church southeast corner of Market and 16th Street in the background

Tanforan, 1912
The then-closed Tanforan racetrack in San Bruno hosted many different kinds of event in the 1910s. December 26, 1912 saw Lincoln Beachey in his plane race Daredevil Edwards in a car. (Beachey would later die in a crash in SF Bay during the PPIE) #sfmemory #sfhistory #sanbruno

Once called the City Front, it was the gateway to San Francisco, All transit revolved around it. this shot in the recent SFMemory.org update really shows how busy it was. I've added an annotated version of some of the things I notice in it. #sfmemory #sfhistory
