Released 40 years ago today. Love And Rockets - Seventh Dream Of Teenage Heaven. This was also the first CD I ever bought… along with PE - It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back. Quite the 1-2 punch.

The photograph captures a stylish vinyl listening setup featuring Love and Rockets’ Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven, combining classic analog audio equipment, colorful vinyl, and atmospheric lighting. On the left, a silver Technics turntable sits on a dark wooden surface with its transparent dust cover raised. A vibrant, translucent blue vinyl record rests on the platter, with the tonearm lowered onto the record as it plays. The polished metal surfaces reflect warm pink and orange highlights, contrasting beautifully with the deep blue of the vinyl. To the right, the album’s striking blue sleeve is prominently displayed. Its minimalist artwork features a large black circle containing angular blue shapes and a vivid red heart. The band’s name, Love and Rockets, appears across the top, while the album title, Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven, runs along the bottom. Beneath the sleeve sits a compact electronic display with brilliant blue LED lettering, adding a futuristic element to the otherwise vintage-inspired arrangement. Its intense blue glow spills across the dark tabletop. The background is illuminated by soft, multicolored ambient lighting, with warm reddish-orange tones transitioning into muted greens. Shadows cast by the turntable and album sleeve add depth to the composition. Overall, the photograph celebrates the tactile and visual appeal of vinyl collecting. The coordinated blue record, blue album artwork, and electric-blue LED display create a cohesive color palette, while the warm ambient lighting lends the scene a nostalgic, intimate atmosphere reminiscent of the alternative rock and post-punk era of the 1980s.
