I was working for Migrant Helpline in the Eastern Docks in Dover, supporting newly arrived asylum seekers, so you can imagine the backlash we received against a largely Muslim diaspora. Security levels were raised and remained so for weeks. As for the morning itself, my ex and I were on the High St in Canterbury and ended up sitting in a pub, watching it unravel on rolling news (which seemed in it's infancy), as more and more people poured in and watched the images in disbelief...
