Back in 2001, 23 of our seismometers were deployed across the Tongariro region of the North Island, New Zealand as part of the START project. This project investigated the basin and lithospheric properties of the region.

Our seismometers were deployed across Zambia to understand changes in crustal structure across the region.
Through receiver function analysis, crustal thickness variations were found across the fault, denoting variations in the tectonic history in the region.

The answer to our game was ๐๐๐ฅ๐ข๐๐จ๐ฉ๐ญ๐๐ซ!
More specifically a Chinook Helicopter.
The z shape of the spectrogram was caused by a doppler shift as the helicopter passed over our seismometers in Leicesters.

Yesterday, a M3.3 #earthquake occurred just off the Lincolnshire coast in the UK.
The earthquake was detected by our seismometers 137 km away in Leicester, with a clear P and S wave peak visible in the signal.
Data from a Raspberry Shake seismometer.
Hello everyone!
Time for another game of ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐ - a little game for the community.
Seismometers can pick up all sorts of different sources from near and far, but can you tell what this seismometer has picked up?

In 2013, 23 of our seismometers were deployed across Haiti, creating a cross-section across the country, making up a part of the Trans-Haiti array. The aim of the deployment was to investigate the structure of the crust and lithosphere.
