One for all the #scottishpoets The submission window is now open for the 11th annual Brian Nisbet Poetry Award.

Submission window will open on National Poetry Day 2026 (Oct 1st) 
Prizes will be awarded to the best poems chosen by the judging panel on the theme - “Wonder”
Rules:
 Poems should be between 4 and 40 lines long
 Poems can be in Doric, Scots, English or a blend of all
 There are four categories 
Up to and including 13 years
Age 14 to 17 years
Published poets* aged 18+
Emerging poets* aged 18+


Entered poems should not have been previously published anywhere. This includes online in any form (including personal websites and social media) or in print (books, magazines etc). Poems should by entirely human created and must not be generated using any form of AI.
*Published poets are those poets who have already had their work published anywhere beyond their own social media and website (e.g magazines, anthologies, books, pamphlets, poetry sites etc)
*Emerging poets are those poets who are as yet unpublished beyond their own social media or their own websites.
Submission guidelines
Entries must be submitted, with name, entry category, and contact information attached separately and must be sent within the submission period - Thursday Oct 1st to Saturday November 1st
If you are sending by email you should put your poem title, name, age category and contact information in the body of the email. Poems sent by email should be attached in a Word document with the title of your poem as the saved name of the document. Please do not put your name and contact details on the poem itself. Emailed poems should be sent during the submission period to bnawardhuntly@gmail.com. Poems sent before the submission period opens will not be saved.
Printed or handwritten poems can be submitted to Orbs Community Bookshop, 10½, The Square, Huntly, AB54 8BR. Please enclose a separate sheet of paper with your poem title, name, age category and contact information. Please do not put your contact details on the poem itself.
Only one entry is allowed per person.
