On the #edge of the galaxy, Gorp oversees a lone outpost. A metaphorical lighthouse, if you will.
Situated next to a large black hole, its #siren warns travellers of their impending doom.

She sometimes questions the point of her job, as there is no sound in space...

The ET's ship had alit in the square, frightening the village's denizens. They ran to their cottages to hide. A creature emerged, its mouth began yawning, propelling a captivating siren wail. Mesmerized, villagers trod to the square's edge & bowed. #horrorprompt #vss365 #Scififri

At the #edge of the universe I met my opposite number from next door. It was a surreal #experience. He was so happy. Both of us the greatest explorers of all. Then the #sirens began to sound. His ship had taken a bite out of mine. And I was next on my doppelganger's menu.

Wot's up, Dr?

A siren call, from the edge of time, Madders

I can set the coordinates of time-ship

Bit risky, Madders, stories of sirens luring travelers to their doom abound in the universe
I'll send a letter praising their singing, instead

Keep it safe, Dr

It's dystopian #SciFiFri, not because it has to be, but because we choose it to be. You could choose otherwise but ah-ah-ah! Dystopia! No choosing anymore! Just thank Leader you got Gonzo Verhoeven dystopia and not THX-1138 dystopia.

#SciFiFri When the Captain’s announcement came, Kaya squealed and knocked over her nearly full bottle of cherry fizz. The bubbly liquid cascaded off the #edge of the table and into Mark’s lap. He jumped up, swearing.

#SciFiFri Pete Peat emerged from one of the hatches and saw Robbie. With one leg slung over the #edge of the hatch and braced on the top step of the ladder, he twitched erect, yelled, “Captain on deck!” and saluted. Then he almost fell off the ladder.

#SciFiFri Robbie groaned and levered himself onto the #edge of the bunk. Why had he been so eager to leave MedBay anyway? Not only did it have room service and an almost private shower and head – he was allowed to sleep as much as he wanted there!

#SciFiFri “Well, Ian! You’re back in bed! Why is your leg up on a pillow?”
“Oh, I had a bit of surgery on the biggest burn – just a local anesthetic,” the Engineer replied. “Maddie wanted to excise some necrotic tissue from the #edges –says it will make it heal faster.”

#SciFiFri [1/2] “Now to speak of planet c, which lies here on the inner #edge of the cometary disk. This body is composed almost entirely of hydrogen, ammonia, and methane around a core of metallic hydrogen.

#SciFiFri [2/2] “It is surrounded by an amorphous clump of gas and dust that seems in process of coalescing into an atmosphere. It is still drawing material into itself from the disk #edge; equipment has already registered two flashes of comets or asteroids slamming into the planet.”
