In Science, Year 4/3 have been learning that soil is made from rocks and organic matter. We collected soil samples from outside and carefully observed what was in each sample. We looked closely at the soil using a microscope, which helped us see tiny pieces of rock! #ScienceatWelbeck

To protect their families from predators and to cook their food, our Stone Age hunters have made their fire! Foraging for dry fuel and creating heat through friction embers and flint, they keep their group safe for the night! #50ThingsatWelbeck #PersonalDevelopmentatWelbeck #ScienceatWelbeck

Science club became bug explorers this week. We explored our forest garden and found lots of different bugs including spiders and beetles. We were very careful to put everything back as we found it. The children loved seeing the bugs close up! #ScienceatWelbeck 🪲🕷️

This week, Y3G have been learning all about the incredible Mary Anning! We explored fossils through art, sketching our own fossil drawings, and put our science skills to the test bu carefully excavating chocolate chips from cookies, just like palaeontologists! 🍪🦕 #ScienceatWelbeck #ArtatWelbeck

Science club started today with some bridge making!🧑‍🔬🌁The children thought about which shapes would make their bridges stronger. We tested them with a car to see how much weight they could hold. They all did an amazing job! #ScienceatWelbeck

Year 4K kicked off their new science topic by comparing different rocks by observing them closely and carrying out a variety of tests! 👁️🔍🪙💧
We described their different properties and discussed suitable uses for each rock. #ScienceatWelbeck
