g+ GameFlow: USL Jägermeister Cup Group Stage San Antonio FC v Louisville City FC on September 08, 2026. #SAvLOU ⚽️🤖

A club-record scoreless run at home, a poor record in elimination penalty shootouts...among other tidbits you probably don't want to think about after San Antonio FC was eliminated from the USL Cup last night, but that I nevertheless pointed out 🙃 #SAvLOU #Defend210

One note from last night's #SAvLOU penalty shootout.

Ninth round, has to score to keep @loucity.com alive, 17-year-old #USYNT international Brandon Dayes delivers. Calm head, great stuff. #USLCup

San Antonio FC controlled its USL Cup semifinal Tuesday night but could never find the breakthrough, paying the price with a PK shootout loss after 10 rounds following a scoreless draw against Louisville City FC. #SAvLOU #Defend210 bluishmoonblog.wordpress.com/2026/09/09/s...

Looks to me like Louisville goalkeeper Ryan Schewe was still on his line when SAFC's last penalty was taken, despite initial speculation. #SAvLOU #Defend210

SAFC 0 (7) - 0 (8) LouCity (FT-PKs)
In the 10th round of PKs, SAFC's is saved - there was some question of whether the goalkeeper came off his line but nothing was checked - then Louisville stepped up and converted to advance to the final. #SAvLOU

7-7 after nine rounds of PKs thanks to two scores...one more until it's goalkeepers. #SAvLOU

Two makes, 6-6 after eight rounds. #SAvLOU

Two scores in the seventh round, 5-5...getting down the depth chart here 😌 #SAvLOU

Two saves in the sixth round, still 4-4. #SAvLOU

Fifth PKs both converted, shootout is 4-4, now we're on to sudden death... #SAvLOU

3-3 after four rounds as both teams convert again. #SAvLOU

Both teams convert their PKs, tied 2-2 after three rounds... #SAvLOU

SAFC and Louisville convert their second PKs, tied 1-1 after two rounds in the shootout. #SAvLOU

Both penalties saved in the first round, still scoreless in the shootout. #SAvLOU

SAFC 0-0 LouCity (EOR)
It's not like this match lacked excitement...but it did lack finishing quality, Louisville also came up with a number of key blocks.
On to PKs we go, SAFC won a shootout in the group stage and Louisville won in the group and quarterfinals. #SAvLOU

Louisville with a dangerous chance as it flicks a ball into the box, but the shot lacks power or placement and Batrouni easily and graciously collects it...SAFC's finishing rubbed off 😌 #SAvLOU

SAFC ratcheting up the pressure in the last 10 minutes or so, still about 10 minutes plus stoppage to go before a penalty shootout to decide this. #SAvLOU

SAFC asks for a review via Football Video Support, claiming it deserved a penalty, but the challenge is unsuccessful. #SAvLOU

SAFC 0-0 LouCity (HT)
A couple close calls at either end, SAFC with perhaps the best right before halftime as it sent a free kick in and the goalkeeper missed it and his net was open for a moment, but Louisville was able to get a block or two in and see off any danger. #SAvLOU
