I was so pleased to see this Brown Hairstreak butterfly in the October sunshine at Lullingstone Country Park today!
A lovely new brood of specked wood were in the ivy at #RSPB Rainham yesterday!
Dozens of Small Whites, a couple of Small Coppers, a handful of Clouded Yellows, several Red Admirals, a Painted Lady and a Comma enjoying the sunshine at the end of the Lizard in Cornwall today. #savebutterflies
Ringstead Downs judging by social media posts seems to have been a butterfly hotspot this year. It was fairly quiet yesterday but I did manage to see both Small Copper & Small Heath. A Clouded Yellow seen by other walkers eluded me. #savebutterflies
Counted a least 5 Wall butterflies on the coast path between Thornham & Holme yesterday. They all looked in excellent condition contrasting with numerous very worn whites.#savebutterflies
Reports received of Swallowtail caterpillars feeding on Fennel. These are likely to be the Continental Swallowtail (gorganus), not the British one (britannicus) which is found only in the Norfolk Broads. We would be interested to hear of any sightings of the Continental form.#savebutterflies

Wall seen on the coast path between Wells & Stiffkey yesterday. This will be a 2nd or maybe 3rd brood. After years of decline our records indicate (although hugely variable year on year) numbers in the county are showing an upward trend. #savebutterflies
