A gay guy visits his straight friends for a summer stay at the beach and connects with an ostensibly straight guy who everyone thinks is gay. Hijinks ensue. A- gay rom com.
@ronbuckmire.bsky.social#SaturdayNightMovie was “Toy Story 5” (2026, Dir: Andrew Stanton). All the old voice talents return (Tom Hanks, Joan Cusack, Tim Allen) with newbies Conan O’Brien & Greta Lee. The screenplay includes some sophisticated observations on social media, tech adoption, allyship, and the dignity of work.
@ronbuckmire.bsky.social#SaturdayNightMovie was “The History of Sound” (dir. Oliver Hermanus, 2025) starring Josh O’Connor and Paul Mescal as two musicians who collect/record folk songs in rural Maine in 1919. Based on an award-winning short story by Paul Shattuck, the movie is slow, but emotionally devastating. 9/10.
