I dont think sampling is automatically stealing because the artist can take something old and turn it into a completely different vibe. To me it becomes more like borrowing a piece of something and making it your own, as long as the original artist isnt just being erased. #hwa3 #sampling

Kayne's "Gold Digger" felt like a homage because of Ray Charles message of money in the song. Kayne simply tied the message to the modern day and expressed it through his style of music which is the best form of a compliment and a grat homage #hwa3 #sampling

Kanye's "Gold Digger" doesn't fall completely in the lines of theft because he did sample it and give(?) the og band credit (i'd hope so), so i'd consider it homage because he's honoring the band but also mixing his own pizzazz into the piece he released #hwa3 #sampling

It felt like theft, he took the song and changed everything about it except the beat. The original meaning was completely gone and replaced. But this does remind me of a quote from r/Reality, "art is theft". #hwa3 #sampling

Gold Digger is like homage, it is not theft because Kanye credited and paid. Ray Charles and then got the sample, and then he further turned it into something new just like Ray Charles did with the gospel song.
