Salman Rushdie, who survived a 2022 assassination attempt that left him blind in one eye, says he longs to see Trump’s “vanity ballroom” demolished along with his legacy. The author remains unafraid to speak his mind. #Rushdie #Trump

All Salman Rushdie did was write a book, and he never intended it to upset anyone. But, the fatwa issued by Khomeini in 1989 caused him to be stabbed 15 times and lose an eye in 2022. A new documentary covers his life.

Okay, so instead of idly speculating (see repost), I roused myself to DuckDuckGo it. The results showed that, post-stabbing, Salman Rushdie's sales did indeed surge, if not soar. And I was part of that! Talk about unintended consequences...

It would be interesting to know how much the attack stimulated sales of “The Satanic Verses”, thereby putting the assailant himself ironically in breach of the fatwa he thought to obey. Very funny book, by the way.

This new documentary based on Salman Rushdie's "Knife" is opening this weekend (in NYC at IFC).

It's story of Rushdie and his wife, Rachel Eliza Griffith - both writers - whose love survives the nearly fatal assault.
