Plastic Halloween plate showing two crows in scraggly black trees at night against a spooky full moon. The plate measures 8.5 inches in diameter. The moon measures about 2159 miles in diameter yet most of it fits within the confines of the plate. It's a Halloween miracle! Another plastic Halloween plate that forms a 2-plate set with the first plate. It shows 5 black bats in flight against a spooky full moon. A label on the back tells me that I paid $2.99 for each plate. It also tells me that it's dishwasher safe so long as I use the top rack only. It is NOT recommended for use in a microwave. Which I guess means I *could* use it in a microwave but the Chinese makers will not take responsibility for what happens. Raised white lettering on the white back of the plate itself is more emphatic: "DO NOT MICROWAVE OVEN" - which seems silly since only a real idiot would try to microwave an oven. But now that they've put the idea in my head I might accidentally do it while sleepwalking. (It's times like these that make me think that illiterate people are better off than I am. If you've read this far you may be forgiven for thinking the same thing.)

Bottom view of a mostly green, long-neck gourd grown from a seed planted on May 19 and harvested Sept 28 (132 days of growth). It measures about 3.5 inches in diameter. It used to measure 9 inches long but the neck started rotting from the top down and had to be amputated. Now it measures a mere 6 inches long. I thought about making an artificial neck for it but decided that that was silly when I could just play the radio louder to take my mind off its loss. The dark round spot in the center is where a pretty little white flower was once attached. That flower is long gone but the dark spot remains. That seems like a perfect metaphor for something but I'm not sure what. The evolution of government perhaps? The average TV show? Life? *Wondering if I could sell Netflix a TV show about someone who applies for a government grant so they can afford to spend the rest of their life researching this question further*

Brass token with the slightly raised words "MUNICIPAL FERRY TOKEN" on it. Two comely raised dots can be found before and after the word "MUNICIPAL" while many short, raised lines (all pointing towards the large hole in the center of the coin) can be found between the words and the smooth outer edge. The coin measures about 13/16ths of an inch in diameter (or 21 mm if you prefer). I bought it recently for $2.49 after seeing it online and immediately falling in love. If you find yourself hankering for a ferry token with a hole in its center, you might want to ask Santa for this one. Back of the brass token. The words "CITY OF LOS ANGELES" appear on the top half while the words "HARBOR DEPARTMENT" appear on the bottom half. Sharp-eyed visitors may have already noticed the 8 extremely fetching raised dots that are symmetrically scattered in 2 sets of 4 on the left and right middle third of the coin. Very sharp-eyed visitors may have already noticed that this side has a hole in its center that almost exactly matches the hole in its other side. And unless I'm mistaken, this LA ferry token was almost certainly used to ride a ferry in LA. That ferry apparently ran from the mainland to Terminal Island between 1941 and 1963 - meaning this token is at least 63 years old. Despite its age, I can still feel the motion of the ferry when I grasp it between my thumb and index finger. (If I put it in the palm of my hand and make a fist I actually get seasick, so I only do that when I want a good excuse to cancel a dinner date I regret making.) Now tell me something YOU know!

Smiley face with brown/red smile and black sunglasses on a yellow background. Printed on a white plastic disk measuring 1.5 inches in diameter. The white plastic disk has two small plastic arms on the back that can encircle a small finger and allow the smiley face to be worn as a ring. "MADE IN USA" appears on the back in raised letters. If it were me, I think I would have kept the country of origin a secret. This isn't a bad photo of a perfect item but an accurate photo of a bad item. The thing really *does* look this awful in person. The US might not be able to make a single TV anymore but apparently it's still capable of turning out crap like this with ease. At least the makers got the roundness right otherwise I might have had to return this birthday gift when the giver wasn't looking.

Top view of a 10-inch tambourine. It has a tight, white, drum-like face material attached to a wooden ring. It also has a row of metal rings (also known as zills or jingles) - 8 sets of 2, in fact. I'm not much of a musician but I live in hopes that merely touching this tambourine will one day release my inner gypsy dancer. (And of course it's always a good idea to have a tambourine with you when you attend a seance just in case a spirit wants to make its presence known through a tambourine rather than through its smart phone or an email.) Bottom view of the tambourine. Note that the wooden frame has been painted a spiffy red to reduce the odds of this instrument being mistaken for a trumpet or a piano. Note, too, that the 8 sets of 2 rings/zills/jingles are much more easily seen from this side (which is why this side is more likely to attract attacking sharks). Sharp-eyed viewers will have already noticed the small hole along the right side of the frame. This hole allows one to insert one's thumb for better control of the instrument. This hole also allows one to insert the tip of one's tongue for no good reason - that's why I'm now in the market for a good tambourine tongue guard (preferably new rather than used).

Top view of a vintage quart Mason jar about half full with this year's excess green bean harvest. I planted maybe 30 Kentucky pole beans earlier this year and harvested about 400 edible bean pods over the course of the summer (with about 4 or 5 beans in each pod). The ones that I didn't harvest I let dry on the vine then split open last week and saved the contents - well, the decent contents, anyway. This is the result: about 1000 beans that I can add to my ever-growing collection of beans-in-jars. I'll probably pick 30 or so to plant next year. That will leave well over 900 for display purposes. I wish savings accounts or the stock market could produce such a great return on investment! (I'm pretty sure that beans will always taste better than money though.) (Oh, the jar pictured is about 3 inches in diameter - almost forgot to mention that!)

The face of a pig as carved in wood. A stick that was 2 inches in diameter forms the main part of the face. Two round drill holes serve as the eyes. Another stick that was about three-quarters of an inch in diameter and cut down to a length of about half an inch serves as the snout (with two irregular drill holes serving as the nostrils). As wooden pig faces go, it's not too bad. The face/head is attached to a larger stick or small branch that makes up the 5-inch-long body. The legs are four other sticks. The tail is made of old brown rope. Oh, and there are little leather ears. Only the face and snout are perfectly round, though, so that's what I'm posting. I suppose I bought this woody animal at some craft festival back in the days before I realized those places spread knickknacks and doodads and kitsch the way Typhoid Mary spread... typhoid, I think it was. I keep piggy prominently displayed to remind me NOT to buy more. It mostly works. If pigs made out of chocolate ever become a thing, however, I'm doomed!

Pin-back button with a white background on which "HUMAN" appears in black print near the top and a large barcode with many vertical black lines and 12 numbers takes up most of the rest of the space. Measures 2.25 inches in diameter. ("JM-58" in raised white plastic print is the only other information on it and takes up much of the back side.) Not quite sure exactly what the message is intended to be. I suppose I bought it thinking it was a wry reminder that the wearer was human but now I'm afraid it foreshadows the badges that AI-controlled robots are going to force us all to wear in the near future. *Wondering what the reaction might be if I attach it to a dog's collar*

Top view of the lid to my clear plastic bottle of vitamin D gummies. The lid is 2 inches in diameter and VERY yellow. SO yellow that it's hard to read the YELLOW words on it. Fortunately I own a pair of sunglasses and can therefore tell you that the words in the outer circle say "PUSH DOWN AND TURN TO OPEN" followed by an arrow pointing in a counter-clockwise direction. I can also tell you that the words in the inner circle say "CLOSE TIGHTLY" followed by a clockwise arrow. AND I can tell you that - having followed these instructions to the letter - I have the lid off and can see the yellow, orange, and red gummies lurking inside the bottle. Unfortunately, neither the lid nor the label on the bottle tells me how to get these gummies out. Do I tip the bottle? Do I grab a spoon? Should I order a special set of tongs? Or ask my insurance company to pay to have a home health care nurse come out and assist me? Perplexed, I have fallen back on "CLOSE TIGHTLY" until the company responds to my request for further guidance. In the meantime I find myself in the possession of a dandy emergency maraca - WOOHOO!

Wicker basket - or maybe I should say wicket plate (8 inches in diameter) since it's flat with a raised edge that's only 1.25 inches high. A recent purchase in anticipation of fall's bounty (although it was sold as a place to dump my keys). I paid about 10 dollars for it - which I thought to be a great bargain considering that it would have taken me many months to make one on my own (and even after all that time the result would have ended up looking like a wicker mess). I'm generally not a big fan of wicker but I DO like to say "wicker" and now I have an excuse to do so. Not that I needed an excuse, exactly, but... maybe that's only the case in my state. If I ever travel to a state where one MUST have an excuse to say "wicker" I'm prepared now. What a relief! Wicker basket (or plate) with some of this fall's beautiful harvest in it. I believe they're called gourds. I didn't grow these particular gourds but somebody did, and that's all that's important, isn't it? Although displaying gourds that nobody grew would have its own charm, I'm sure. Hmmm.... Perhaps I need to buy another wicker basket (or plate) and display the two types of gourds (i.e., those grown by somebody and those grown by nobody) and see which ones prove to be most popular with visitors and guests. (And family members, too, I suppose, IF they can remember not to claw the furniture or pee on the rugs like they did when I invited them over to see the latest additions to my wax fruit collection.)

Eiffel Tower pendant. About 1.25 inches in diameter (almost exactly the same size as the Good Conduct Medal I posted a few days ago). The Tower and its immediate surroundings appear to have been painted or imprinted on a hard beige material. There's a horizontal strip of black printed words on the left side but I can't make out what they say. This pendant may be old or maybe it was just made to look old. I can't recall how I came to possess it. Perhaps it was a gift from a friend or family member who visited Paris. Perhaps it caught my eye when I was in an antique store at some point and I bought it. Perhaps I won it in a poker game or at a carnival. Perhaps I stole it from a baby in a stroller when no one was looking. Perhaps it came to me on the collar of a stray dog or cat. Perhaps I made it myself. Perhaps no one at all made it and it just randomly popped into existence out of nothing along with all the rest of us and our pseudo-memories five nanoseconds ago. All I know for sure is that the muffin that was the subject of my last photo tasted MUCH better! (Fortunately, that's all I really need to know.)

Some simple drawings depicting a few "simple" usages of Mister E's GC (LA Nervatura M.).

LEFT: Shows him able to turn into a massive dark sphere with two disembodied hands, called his "Rs-Mode". It's noted this form chases endlessly, is way faster than it looks, and that everything becomes 110% catchable. This seems to terrify Fifty-Two. There's also a deeply unrelated drawing of Fifty-Two trying to walk with two legs at the bottom.

RIGHT: In his Rs-Mode as he lightly shakes a skyscraper as his "arms" stretch put to search inside. There's a nearby drawing with him flying pretty fast in this form. (2) Dashing, with his suit warping (3) His arm preparing to shoot with his "finger gun" as it manifests from a small dark portal (3) In his Rs-Mode as he grows and sucks in the area like a black hole.
