A blushing pink Rose of Sharon with some darker pink strips on the edges of the 5 petals. The flower has a maroon center and a chunky pistil with anthers that are covered with creamy white pollen n stigmas. The leaves appear yellowish in this pic.

I found two more Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus) pavementplants in a back alley in the Graduate Hospital Area today. Only one of them was flowering & the flowers were closing up for the day, so I will have to check back on it in the morning soon.

Rose of Sharon off 9th St. below the Italian Market, in Passyunk Square, shot in 2017. This was the second flowering specimen of the species I ever found grown out of a pavement crack.

A close-up of the pollen-drunk bee.

I was having some difficulty getting my camera to focus on the bee but I still like the pics I got from it. Going macro on a Samsung isn't always easy.

This bee must've found the good good pollen on this hibiscus flower bc he didn't care one bit that I was obnoxiously taking photos of it.

I found another bloomin pavementplant Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus) in Packer Park, a neighborhood in which I don't think I've ever found anything else interesting.

Rose of Sharon flowers last less than a day and it pushes out new ones every day so I'm going to visit this one as many mornings as I can until the season is over or it gets cut down.

Some blooms on my #RoseofSharon tree. So many blooms this year. I think having cut down some invasive small trees along the fence to give more sunlight and air circulation helped.
