Warm colour written in iron.
#Carnelian is a translucent variety of #chalcedony, made from microscopic #crystals of quartz. Its signature orange-to-red colour comes from iron oxides dispersed throughout the stone—a beautiful example of trace chemistry transforming #quartz.

#Fluorite is a calcium fluoride #mineral famous for its incredible range of colours and beautifully formed cubic #crystals. Trace #elements and structural defects can alter how the crystal interacts with light, producing shades from purple and green to blue, yellow, and beyond.

When lightning leaves a fossil behind.
#Fulgurite forms when #lightning strikes sand or soil, creating temperatures intense enough to rapidly melt and fuse the material. The result is a fragile, glassy tube that preserves the path of the electrical discharge through the ground.
