**Aurora**

The night does not devour; it keeps

the dawn in trust while the world sleeps.

No end, but a #Reprieve, a page

that turns us toward the coming stage.

I lay my weary name ashore

and walk where none have walked before.

sadness scrapes my bones
exposed marrow wreaks of words
unspoken reprieve
echoes of a howling child
still concealed in #clouds of fear

now crying alone
rewriting my memories
to purify stains of shame

The #reprieve of the year. The sigh of falling leaves, the exhalation of ghosts as they unfurl from heaven and earth.
Fruit drops from tree branches. The joyful round pumpkins. The fertile ground, rich with jewels. The world rejoices as autumn awakes.

The seaside offers no #reprieve. No matter what the doctors promised. Dreams crush into his sleep, violent and bloody like the churning tide of the mattanza. Torn flesh, mangled fins, the swish and crunch of harpoon strikes. Pearlescent sheen of sweat on his limbs. The air is hard to breathe #vss365

"How did it go?"

"We got a #reprieve. And Max claims she's innocent."

"Do you believe her?"

"Yes. Yes, I do."

"It's enough for me. I'll suit up. Don't wait for me awake."

"You know I can't sleep when you... Gone. Damn."

Bequest me all your fortune
And it still won't give me reprieve
For if I had a fortune
I'd give & give & never receive

I'd start by tipping Sex Workers
Then move to feeding the poor
I'd clear away their sadness
Help them open up a new door

You can call that crazy

Day 638: Woke up. Wrote a poem. Made some art. Pinned it to the Wall. #Reprieve #vss365

I can’t believe September is over already. Coming up fast on publishing the first volume of these poems in January.

You refused that reprieve because it was a dot in a sea of white, and you are just fortunate enough to know that reprieves should be more of an SOS. A signal that repeats now and then. That's how they help fortify, instead of being something that seems like a dream you once had.

"Sholmes, three suits have vanished from the tailor"

"Geriarty, Hatson. Obviously"

"Why steal suits?"

"He sought a #reprieve from looking suspicious"

"Did it work?"

"Not remotely. He now looks suspicious in three different sizes"

Angel smiled at us,
found a home and new parents.
"Another life." she said.

dark night, alone
starry sky opens wide
#reprieve of distance

Streetlights beat
as I take my #reprieve
from chirping monitors
and pain-wracked dreams.

Guilt rides hollow-eyed
in your seat, not for
your hand, empty and unheld
but for the peace so far
away from your side.

Tonight, in borrowed beds
we claim what healing we can.

at the shore, silence settled
over his soul

that silence offered a #reprieve
from the turbulence of his life

it allowed him to measure the
dimensions of the problems
he was about to face

By the time she got a #reprieve from the woman's smell, the man was exiting the streetcar. She followed him up the street to the Maritime History Museum, and then waited on the sidewalk as he led his dog inside. He paused there to speak with a petite blonde employee. #vss365 #writing

#vss365 Caught fencing souls to Astaroth & his soul-eating spawn, DEATH waited on Life Row for either the governors' #reprieve or corporealization. Inhabiting flesh & bone filled him with dread. The horror of facing daily routines—showering, shaving, brushing teeth, & deodorizing sounded awful.

"If her love is a punishment, grant me #reprieve."

Yet Monday after Monday after Monday she'd talk
As I clung to every sentence.

Then in solitary I'd scratch the days on the wall
And circle my every hope

But every day she held me with her eyes.
Never with her arms.

"Ave da stone giants stopped throwin crap at us? Itz gone quiet," Riz asked.
"They've given us a moments #reprieve so they could pass us this note," I said.
"Nd it says?"
"Give us the idol stealing rat and all is forgiven."
