Biobased, biodegradable coatings for controlled-release fertilisers: less nitrogen, no persistent plastics in the soil.
That's what we're building at #RELEASAFE.
Thanks @cbe-ju.bsky.social for supporting our journey and for featuring us! More below 👇

By 2030, #RELEASAFE aims to:
🔹 Cut nitrogen use 25-30%
🔹 Prevent 45k+ tonnes of microplastics/year
🔹 Mitigate up to 1.3M tonnes CO₂
🔹 Build new value chains in Spain & the Netherlands
🔹 Engage 25,000+ farmers

Then it was down to business: #RELEASAFE will turn underused feedstocks — lignin, starch derivatives, wood residues, PHAs — into biodegradable fertilisers for crops like maize and tomato, cutting reliance on polymer coatings that harm soil health.

✨Kick-off meeting for #RELEASAFE! ✨

What if fertilisers could heal soil instead of harming it? That's the question this Horizon Europe project, under @cbe-ju.bsky.social -sets out to answer at its kick-off in Zaragoza, hosted by Fundación Aitiip. 🧵👇
