Congrats to Rose and Jack for passing their rapier assessments! They now officially qualify for our intermediate rapier class.

Rose and Jack were tested on fencing theory, technical skills, simple coaching cues, and a fight assessment (technical and tactical).

Kicking off Cloaktober a day early since I’ll be on a plane for Rome tomorrow.

This is an option drill working on a second guard from Fabris.

A new sword day. Couldn’t pass by this beauty.

Custom Kvetun shell rapier. Destreza specs:
Total length: 123 cm
Blade length from quillons: 104 cm
Pob from shell: 6 cm
Weight: 900 gr.

A nice addition to my collection. Feeling like General Grievous.

Diswhat
Weapon (rapier), Common (requires attunement)

The name of this rapier is funnier if you translate how it sounds into Spanish...

What a way to end a sparring session by our fencer Eric #hema #rapier #fencing #boston

Went out to Delftwood for their practice tonight and they brought the HEAT.

Hoo that Michael got feet and Fergus' tip is like a lightning bug. Robert got that saber curve and wicked bind.

Had a blast. Prolly shoulda taken better care of my elbow.

Fun action on the blade work with Anna.

Our lesson started with exploring how to set up specific situations and reactions from our opponent. And to mix it up, we looked at the blade pressure.

Dalia doesn't really like violence, but is fine play-acting it sometimes, so she tends to use a #rapier for that, or a #short-sword like a #gladius.

Chooli favors a #quarter-staff.

Vedya's friend Sarah Butcher likes #sabers and the #gladius.

And that’s why I love rapier.

Had a pleasure welcoming Rizal Utama, an instructor of Academia da Espada Indonesia and Phoenix Guid in Budapest. It was a great experience! #HEMA #rapier

POCKET SAND! 🏝️⚔️

Yes, pocket sand is a historical technique. Domingo Luis Godinho talks about it in his book “Arte de Esgrima” (On the Art of Fencing) in his section about defeating treachery.

Cloaktober is a fortnight away!

Here’s some rapier + cloak training with Lance. He’s a beginner fencer that’s really taken with sword + cloak.

Gavin approaches in 2nd, slight circling to the coach’s outside:

- Coach does nothing ➡️ Attack
- Coach attacks into invitation ➡️ Dagger parry & counter-thrust to the outside line
- Coach attacks the dagger hand or outside the dagger ➡️ Dagger parry and counter-thrust to the inside line
