@philwells.bsky.socialToday’s extra bonus edition of #RandomRPGCover is the second edition of Talisman. As a roll-and-move board game with a massive amount of randomness, Talisman really isn’t a great game. But it does have a ton of flavour and growing up I really loved it.
@philwells.bsky.socialToday’s special bonus edition of #RandomRPGCover is the first edition of the “Aliens”-inspired board game Space Hulk, released in 1989. I loved this game, painted a ton of minis for it, and had the Deathwing and Genestealer expansions too.
@philwells.bsky.socialAlas, this will be the last edition of #RandomRPGCover, as I’ve now reached the end of my collection of gaming books from my youth. Hope you enjoyed the series and that it brought back some memories!
@philwells.bsky.socialToday’s #RandomRPGCover is Realm of Chaos: The Lost and the Damned, which covers the Chaos gods Nurgle and Tzeentch.
@philwells.bsky.socialToday’s #RandomRPGCover is Realm of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness, containing everything you always wanted to know but were afraid to ask about the Chaos gods Khorne and Slaanesh. Blood for the Blood God!
@philwells.bsky.socialToday’s #RandomRPGCover is Warhammer Armies, a collection of army lists for Warhammer Fantasy Battle.
@philwells.bsky.socialToday’s #RandomRPGCover is Warhammer Siege, the supplement to Warhammer Fantasy Battle that added rules for sieges. It was released alongside Games Workshop’s fantastic castle-in-a-box, the Mighty Fortress!
@philwells.bsky.socialToday’s #RandomRPGCover isn’t an RPG at all but I’m including it anyway: the third edition of Warhammer Fantasy Battle. Wargaming was as much a part of my youth as role-playing and I still have my minis and much of the scenery I made.
@philwells.bsky.socialToday’s #RandomRPGCover is the Restless Dead, a collection of adventures for WFRP that can be played either on their own or as part of a mini campaign. It includes an adventure I wrote for White Dwarf when I was a teenager, the Ritual.
@philwells.bsky.socialToday’s #RandomRPGCover is the first edition of the final part of the original Enemy Within campaign, Empire in Flames.
@philwells.bsky.socialToday’s #RandomRPGCover is the fifth part of the original Enemy Within campaign, Something Rotten in Kislev. In the more recent Director’s Cut of the campaign, this was replaced by The Horned Rat.
@philwells.bsky.socialToday’s #RandomRPGCover is Warhammer City, a supplemental sourcebook released at the same time as Power Behind the Throne, containing additional information about the city of Middenheim.
@philwells.bsky.socialToday’s #RandomRPGCover is the fourth part of the Enemy Within campaign, Power Behind the Throne, which shifts the action to the city of Middenheim.
@philwells.bsky.socialToday’s #RandomRPGCover is the third part of the Enemy Within campaign, Death on the Reik, originally released in a box like the old D&D sets.
@philwells.bsky.socialToday’s #RandomRPGCover is Warhammer Campaign, the hardback book that collected together the first two parts of the Enemy Within campaign.
@philwells.bsky.socialToday’s #RandomRPGCover is the first edition of the second part of the classic Enemy Within campaign, originally released in its own booklet. Memorable for the complete destruction of Bögenhafen at the end, if the players fail (as mine did!).
@philwells.bsky.socialToday’s #RandomRPGCover is my favourite RPG of all time: the first edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. Grittier and more realistic than D&D and AD&D, my gaming group and I absolutely loved it.
@philwells.bsky.socialToday’s #RandomRPGCover is AD&D module N1: Against the Cult of the Reptile God.
@philwells.bsky.socialToday’s #RandomRPGCover is AD&D module G1-2-3: Against The Giants, actually a collection of three separate adventures.
@philwells.bsky.socialToday’s #RandomRPGCover is AD&D module S2: White Plume Mountain.
