The top three finishers in today's sprint race questioned the wisdom of holding sprint races on street tracks like Singapore and Monaco.
"I don't think it makes sense to have any sprint races on city tracks in general" - Leclerc
Norris: "I did apologise because it was still me that was the one attacking, as I have the right to do - if I just sat there and was boring like I should be then nothing would have happened."
Verstappen on Russell's crash in the sprint race::
"He was sideways already a few times in that first lap, so I think he was just pushing quite hard."
The stewards issue no penalty to Albon and Bottas for their collision in the sprint race: www.racefans.net/2026/10/10/n...
No penalty for Norris or Piastri for their collision in the sprint race. Here's their explanation in full:
Ocon has come to a stop minutes after the start of qualifying: "I had no brakes."
As qualifying begins half an hour later than scheduled, the stewards are yet to rule on two incidents from the sprint race: the Norris/Piastri collision and the Albon/Bottas/Bortoleto collision.
Norris stands by the move he made on his team mate on the final lap, when both collided:
"I've tried to avoid the incident and obviously there still was one, but it was a big gap so I went for it, I have the right to do that."
Perez, Stroll, Bearman and Lindblad have all been cleared over their various incidents.
"If it was dry, that would have been probably the most boring race for you to have watched" - Hamilton
Oliver Bearman, who finished sixth, is under investigation for driving unnecessarily slowly:
The start of qualifying has been delayed. It will now begin at:
9:30pm (local time)
3:30pm (CET)
2:30pm (UK time)
9:30am (US East Coast time)
Coulthard says Verstappen has now won on every track he has competed on in Formula 1, which can't be right because he didn't win at the Madring.
Norris steals 'most embarrassing move of the race' from Russell on the final lap.
Why aren't FOM playing Verstappen's engine boost complaints on the world feed?
Are they so sensitive about these engines now they won't even show drivers referring to problems?
It's not like the race doesn't need a point of interest...
I suspect Verstappen had a right old chuckle at that.
Race control confirm there will be a standing start.
The cars and drivers are more than capable of driving in these conditions but the visibility is very poor.
This has been a particular problem since they made the tyres wider in 2017, and although they're slightly narrower this year this remains the case.
The sprint race was supposed to start half an hour ago, no car has turned a wheel yet, though that detail hasn't made it any less exciting than the last sprint race.
As was the case in Malaysia last week, they intend to do two formation laps behind the Safety Car first.
