The Origins of a Wasp Nest
With crop, showing the very narrow depth of field and good resolving power of which the RF-40mm pancake lens is capable
#photography #nature #R100 #EF-40mm

The very beginning of wasps, nesting. I cycle to my dayjob on a Montague full sized folding 700c bicycle, single speed/fixie, and if I'm leaving during the daylight hours, I lock it up out of sight by the HVAC units. As I locked it up, I felt this odd sensation on my arm.... This photo was made with a Canon EF-40mm pancake lens on an adapter to RF mount. The camera is a Canon R100, nice, light, and a gread Every Day Carry camera. The EF-40mm has very few shortcomings, and the internal lens profile for it in the camera's Digic 8 processor corrects for those and prints the jpeg as per preferences set in the menu system. I used the little gn 12 built in flash on the camera for fill lighting.
