What does “down on sound” mean during an equine lameness exam?

With front-limb lameness, a horse may raise its head as the painful limb lands and lower it as the sound limb bears weight.

Identifying the limb is only the first step.

Stormie completed treatment for multicentric lymphoma at Purdue University Small Animal Hospital and is currently in remission. Her Oncology team marked the milestone with treats and a Survivor Lei.
