You’ve been dropped onto an 8088 motherboard for your training. Those “buildings” are RAM chips and transistors. That thing hovering overhead is not friendly.
Reworked the lighting on the first level. Does the scale read?

#Project8088: Updated the 8088B tutorial level with some lighting and material changes.
Old (first image) vs. New
#Project8088: Working on the act / scene scripting engine that sits outside the #UE5 environment but orchestrates the game using data tables. Tonight I've added a scene (phase) timer agent which yields more control in the pacing of enemies and dialog.
The tutorial ends and the story begins. #Project8088
#Project8088 - the end of the tutorial, the beginning of the story.
Hmmm...there might a bit of logic debt in there somewhere. It's just the #Project8088 projectile base class for Event Hit. It's okay...it's all okay. 🔥 It'll be a-okay.
Because I am ~totally~ not biased, I love [most] all the levels from #Project8088. But The Experiment level with it's multi-tiered space, tougher enemies, and pressured gameplay makes it my favorite so far.
Overhauling #Project8088 by eliminating tech debt from the core game loop engine and creating an agent system to manage level objectives. This morning (using claude), I've abstracted those elements into a scripting language for the game.
Little pre-day job refinement of the tutorial level. Things are settling with #Project8088. A lot of tech debt eliminated and systems created. Hopefully some major progress over the weekend. #TGIF!
A bit of super simple lighting to add some atmosphere to the The Lab in #Project8088.
The beginning of the #Project8088 tutorial using a phase objective system I created. The system let's me add phase objectives via data tables and are deployed via phase agents. When the phase is completed, the indicator disappears.
Working on the phase objectives for #Project8088. Eliminating some technical debt by going with an agent based system. Also getting rid of the text-based level begin overlay listing the phases and implementing a more diegetic approach.
In #Project8088, BP_Agents (bits of criteria) spawn when the phase starts and destroy themselves when their criteria is complete. Once all agents are destroyed, the system moves to the next phase.
This allows for reusable agents across levels.
It takes a Quantum AI Server Room to run a Quantum Transfer Chamber. #Project8088.
Reworking aspects of The Lab in #Project8088. Trading out unnecessary sophistication for simplicity. And in the effort of trying to learn something new every session, behold: in-game camera. 😀
In #Project8088, The Lab is the base of operations. Part of The Lab includes the Residence wing where the player has their own unit.
Not sure what's going to happen here yet, but The Lab wouldn't feel complete without the residence area.
How #Project8088 started: the 8088 inspired motherboard for the tutorial. And how it's going: The Experiment - a vast tiered level with hints of the past pointing to the future.
Trying to get a bit braver with lighting. #Project8088
