Non-autistic parents and professionals are lobbying for the term "profound autism." But autistic people themselves think the label is dangerous & will lead to autistic people with more needs getting less help. In @autisticadvocacy.org's #ProfoundAutism toolkit:
Human rights do not depend on speech, Independence or how easy someone is to support. Profoundly autistic and non-speaking people have the same right to dignity, safety, communication, choice and a meaningful life as anyone else.
