My neighbor has a ginormous prickly pear cactus out in their yard and last year I was able to scrounge what was left on and make some syrup. But holy moly I feel like I hit the jackpot with this years harvest!

I plan on making syrup AND dye this year. Wish me 🤞🏻💫✨

Imagine packing your kid off to a one-teacher bush school & instead of playing tag at lunch, the teacher hands them a needle full of arsenic & says “Go stab some cactus.”

Thanks to the Cactoblastis moth, however, this menace was almost entirely eradicated. Bet the kids were thrilled.
