Midwest Mythology ~
Why does the gryphon sometimes show up on the bank buildings of Louis Sullivan (and perhaps others)? Turns out the beast protects gold. In my life, gold seems as mythological as gryphons, so it makes sense.

Maybe not for Louis Sullivan. I suppose I could find a list, but I prefer stumbling onto these bank buildings he designed. No two alike, yet all instantly recognizable. This one, my 5th or 6th, is in Newark, Ohio.
