On #ThisDayInHistory in 1698, Tsar Pyotr I (Peter I) of #Russia, aka #PeterTheGreat, imposed a tax on #beards as a way to encourage shaving among the boyars, exempting only the clergy and peasantry. Perhaps needless to say, that seems a good enough reason for revolution to me.
