Pedro X. Molina editorial cartoon, 13-Oct-2026. Against a white background, Donald Trump, wearing a blue suit and long red tie, struggles beneath an enormous green money bag bearing a yellow dollar sign. The bag obscures his head as he carries it toward a wooden launching ramp positioned beside a large missile painted in the white, blue and red colours of the Russian flag. A skull and crossed bones appear on the missile’s blue section. To the left, Vladimir Putin, wearing a green suit labelled “PUTIN,” gestures toward the ramp while carrying a yellow jerrycan marked “DIESEL.” Putin calls out, “THANKS, DONALD! JUST DROP IT RIGHT THERE!” The money bag’s placement above the ramp suggests that Trump’s proposed Russian diesel purchases could help finance Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine. The cartoon portrays Putin directing the transaction while Trump supplies the money, transforming an energy deal into a potential contribution to Russia’s war machine. Molina’s signature, the year 2026 and the Tribune Content Agency credit appear in the upper-right corner.
