He's already got you. You were going to leave, he raised your salary and you agreed to stay. Everything negotiable just like Ramsey said.

Back in the 60s, my father quit a job when his boss undermined him with a client. He gave two months notice to find his replacement and they were still shocked when he left. When he told me the story years later, the lesson was simple. "You can't let people treat you like that." #Patterns #TCMParty

I was always taught, don't let someone push you out of a job. BUT also, know when the walk away. Or Run

I love the late ‘50s: we weren’t at war, so corporate corruption movies had to bring the intrigue. #TCMParty #Patterns

All those little bows down her dress playing the little refined lady as she STABS HER HUSBAND IN THE BACK to curry favor with his boss and reap the benefits of his advancement.

Those are 5 minutes of the most condensed agony ever filmed. It gives me chills to think of it.

Van's social climbing wife in #Patterns would be very much at home in the coffee klatch of cop wives that drives Barbara Stanwyck to murder in Crime of Passion. I think she'd rank second in the mean girl pecking order after Raymond Burr's wife.

None, I'm sad to say, but both the Film Detective BD from a couple of years ago and the most recent restoration by Film Masters are major upgrades from the DVD which was grainy even on my pre-OLED TV. I'll bet this is the Film Masters restoration airing because it looks great.

You and me both. Mid-century corporate ethics dramas are a favorite subgenre of mine, and with Van Heflin, Everett Sloane and Ed Begley in front of the camera and the genius of Rod Serling behind it, this one is at the top of the heap for me.

Everett Sloane is the devil in this movie. I love it.

I have loved #Patterns since the first time I watched it.
Everett Sloane doesn't hold back. His character kicks butt.
