Just in time for #FossilsFriday but here are a few photos from my trip to the LWL Museum of Natural History in Münster! I was mainly visiting for their Lepidodendron canopy specimen!!!

Describing the cones & seeds of extinct #conifer species---using CT and 3D visualization---that co-existed with the dinosaurs 150 million years ago in what is today the state of Utah.

Using an industrial-strength CT scanner, the authors of this study were able to look inside a new species of a 151-million-year-old conifer cone from Utah to see the three spirals of seeds preserved inside, without having to cut open the precious fossil.
