An analog photograph of a waterlogged patch of woodland. In the lower part of the frame, dark, still water forms an irregular mirror, reflecting trunks, branches, and bright glimpses of sky. Tiny plants cover parts of its surface. Tufts of long grass, ferns, and low shrubs line its edges. On the left, a fallen, moss-covered trunk leans over the water, drawing the eye deeper into the image.
Large trunks with deeply furrowed bark dominate the right side, leaning slightly toward the centre. Together with the trees on the left, they naturally frame the brighter woodland beyond. Slender branches cross the scene, while successive layers of leaves and distant trees create depth. Diffused light filters through the canopy, particularly in the upper left of the photograph.
The colours are muted: greens range from the olive and yellowish hues of the leaves to the cooler shades of grass and moss. These are accompanied by the dark browns of the water and the bluish-grey tones of the bark. Fine grain and soft tonal transitions lend the photograph a subtly painterly quality. This is a quiet, slightly mysterious corner where tangled vegetation and its reflections seem to form one continuous image.
