#OwenCharlesMiddleton would work through #HarryA.Chesler's legendary comic shop, providing stories for books like #WhizComics #22 (Oct. 3rd, 1941). While Middleton appreciated the money, he would dismiss comics as a lesser art form, despite producing stellar work in the 1940's.

While #OwenCharlesMiddleton preferred to use his art for political causes, he still needed to pay the bills, leading to his work in comics, such as in #WarHeroes #5 (July/Sept. 1943) from #DellPublishing, where he produced the six page #TwoMonthsintheBush story.

After being released from Sing Sing Prison in 1935, #OwenCharlesMiddleton went to work for #ChampionLaborMonthly, a Communist paper, as an editorial cartoonist, a job he claimed the #ChicagoTribune wouldn't allow him to have.

#OwenCharlesMiddleton joined the #ChicagoTribune in the early 1920's as a staff artist, becoming one of the first black artists in a major newspaper. Unfortunately, his knack for legal trouble would soon land him in prison.
