I noticed the details around the main figure more than the figure itself, especially the clothes and the names below. It makes the painting feel less like some random heroic image and more connected to real people and what is happening now. #hwa3 #onesmalldetail

a small detail that most people might overlook in the painting is the contrast in the calmness the person seems to have while the horse has immense movement #hwa3 #onesmalldetail

A small detail in Wiley's painting that's often overlooked, but I think matters, is his clothing and the names on the stones under the figure. It's probably to represent the modern-day hero and connect the painting with current events. #hwa3 #onesmalldetail

I think people might overlook that the horse in Wiley's painting looks more scared than in the other painting. #hwa3 #onesmalldetail

I feel that people might overlook the names inscribed on the stones. Bonaparte, Hannibal are greatest conquerors of all time. Beside is the name of an ordinary guy Williams. This signifies that everybody is important and equal

The cracked mountain has names of legendary warriors that this random figure in street clothes is trampling over. A funny nod to how the random person is just as if not important. Another way you can look at it is him sharing the status of being legendary with them. #hwa3 #onesmalldetail

A small detail I noticed that is probably overlooked is the horse's eyes. To me, it looks like the horse's eyes are wide in terror, looking back at the rider. This likely has some type of meaning. #hwa3 #onesmalldetail

#onesmalldetail that I noticed was that Kehinde Wiley keeps all names on the rocks from the original painting but adds "William". Now I'm unsure of the exact significance but it could imply that Williams deserves the same recognition that traditionally celebrated figures get. #hwa3

#hwa3 #onesmalldetail he seems to be wearing what i think are orange exercise cuffs on his wrist, which are really confusing alongside the camo and the timbs and sword. i wonder why that is

One small detail I noticed is the names carved into the rocks at the bottom of the painting. I think they matter because they connect the person in the painting to important historical figures and make him seem powerful and heroic. #hwa3 #onesmalldetail

I feel like some people would overlook the names/words on the rocks also the shoes the person is wearing they look like tims lol #hwa3 #onesmalldetail

small detail that can be noticed, and is therefore symbolic of the hidden/subtle messages that can go unnoticed in any piece of art or a work. #hwa3 #onesmalldetail

One small detail I think is important to notice is how the patterns in the background alternate by column. I think most people would take a quick glance at the painting and focus more on the figure itself and end up skipping the pattern. To me it matters because it is a #hwa3 #onesmalldetail

The lettering on the rocks, it seems, towards the bottom left hand side of Wiley's painting seems important but I am unsure its significance #onesmalldetail #hwa3
