March to the Polls: Defend the Vote! Protect democracy. On Saturday 17 October, we will march to the polls. When: 10am rally, 11am march Where: Percival Landing at 4th Ave and Water Street (near the big OLYMPIA mural) What: Join your friends, family, and neighbors in a friendly march from Water Street, seven blocks to City Hall, to deposit your completed ballot, sealed in your signed oath envelope. We will have musical accompaniment from members of the Artesian Rumble Arkestra, and Singing Resistance. Do the ballot drop line dance as we celebrate the achievement of the vote. Why: Many people have suffered and died in order for the right for each of us to practice our constitutional human right to vote as a fundamental sacred act in our system of participatory democracy. We are not going away, and we are not giving up! All people, who are eligible citizens of voting age, no matter their economic status, gender, religion, ethnic heritage, racial ancestry, sexual orientation, ability, or any other identifying characteristic: All People Have the RIGHT TO VOTE. So let’s celebrate that, and honor all the people who worked, struggled, and sacrificed to make it to this day. Who: Event is sponsored by Olympia F.O.R. (Fellowship of Reconciliation) and friends of Oly FOR How: Show up, bring your ballot, bring a sign to carry, bring a friend or two, and perhaps even make new friend or two by joining! Please, no campaigning for candidates. No partisan signs please, just support for democracy and the right to vote.
