Those days are numbered now. I was taught to locate stations & other significant places in thick fog by listening with the window down. Diesel smoke colours, engine sounds, the feel of dragging brakes & even smells.

And on top of that I knew & understood my machines.

I feel this - literally. I've had intermittent back issues (nothing major, thankfully) since about 24. Now north of half a century. #oldfart

Hump Day tomorrow! For an arse that’s 25,431 days old, mine don’t look half bad. #humpday #arse #oldfart

Fossil of Letter
My desk drawer
has become paleontological dig site—
layers of old receipts,
dried-out cartridges,
rubber bands gone brittle with age,
keys to locks no longer remember.
And there, beneath it all,
the fossil of
sheet of blotting paper
still carrying the faint, reversed
impression
of words wrote in 1968.
hold it to the light,
trying to decipher
that mirror-writing—
not so much to discover
what said,
but who said it.
Somewhere in those faded strokes
is twenty-year-old hand,
pressing fountain pen to paper,
certain, perhaps,
that whatever troubled him then
mattered enormously.
cannot remember the letter,
who received it,
or what became of the reply.
Only this impression remains—
ink transferred by accident,
preserved for nearly sixty years,
the fossil of thought,
the footprint of younger self
who had no idea
would one day
dig him up.
