A real regulator with a genuine commitment to protecting the public would not feel the need to try to downplay the announcement of a price 'cap' increase.

A real regulator with a genuine commitment to protecting the public would not feel the need to try to downplay the announcement of a price 'cap' increase.
But #OfgemIsCorrupt.
If it's a cap, why does it keep rising? π€
It's expected to rise again by 16% in January - the middle of winter when energy usage is highest.
The energy price cap is going up *again*.
Meanwhile, Ofgem posts pointless junk like this instead of properly protecting consumers.
Also, the 'independent' regulator charade allows politicians to shift the blame whilst maintaining the status quo:
Oh, it's not our responsibility, it's up to the regulator.
Basically, it's a mess of a system that's prone to corruption and corporate lobbying.
β
Ofgem won't do anything about energy company profiteering

Wait, what's this, a post from Ofgem?
Surely it'll be something important about the upcoming 24% price 'cap' increase just announced for January...
Oh.
Ofgem regularly posts drivel like this yet does nothing about energy company profiteering.
The price 'cap' will go up (again!) by a whopping 24% in January β that's what I find confusing, Ofgem.
Energy companies deliberately make their bills and tariffs difficult to follow.
Ofgem could be forcing them to simplify their setup and immediately switch customers to cheaper tariffs when they become available β but no, instead they're producing this guff.
Your bills are going up & up.
Energy companies are profiteering.
The national regulator #Ofgem is telling you how to change a lightbulb.
