Chalked up 24 species for my #OctoberBigDay. Heard more than that, but only wanted to record sightings I could verify. Best sighting was a completely unexpected American Wigeon! (Also including a morning birding selfie.)

Had a wonderful #OctoberBigDay in Tommy Thompson Park, charting 52 species and 7 new lifers! Here are some highlights 🪶

Went out for #OctoberBigDay and got 30 species out at the McKee-Besher Wildlife Management Area in Maryland near the Potomac River. #Birds #eBird #Birding 🪶📷

I challenged myself to #OctoberBigDay at WWT Slimbridge today, and observed a total of 76 species across site. Some highlights included the showy Wood Sandpiper, large mixed wader flocks at high tide, and plenty of arriving winter birds with increasing numbers of Pintail and Wigeon #GlosBirds

Fearless in a thorny world! Chickadees decode danger by ear — the more “dee”s at the end of their call, the bigger the threat they’re warning about. This one was too busy working the goldenrod seed heads to sound any alarm though. BCCH#20.
