#RMSMauretania of 1906, one of #CunardLine's most successful #OceanLiners, captured the westbound Atlantic speed record from her running mate #RMSLusitania on #ThisDayInHistory in 1909, and held the #BlueRiband in both directions for the next twenty years, an unprecedented feat.

How was time kept aboard Titanic and other ships in 1912, and what was the time difference between Titanic and New York on April 15, 1912? Does the recovered chronometer reveal anything regarding this time difference?

#SSConteDiSavoia, one of the finest #OceanLiners from the #ItalianLine, was set afire and sunk by #Nazi soldiers on #ThisDayInHistory in 1943 in the chaos around the Italian armistice. More modern in aspect than #SSRex, she was the first major liner with gyroscopic stabilizers.
