I've finally sourced enough acorns to bring the Jays to the camera regularly.
However in the mind of the Jay, not all acorns are equal. The largest green ones are taken promptly but there's a careful inspection regime after that, with a high rejection rate of the suboptimal.

We have over 15 tall oak trees among others in our backyard. Not to mention the woods in back too.

Soon they will all be dropping their leaves, and I will start my annual battle raking leaves for most of the fall season
