Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - From Her to Eternity
Not the peerless quality of Cave's more recent work. But this mix or art-punk and chain-gang style seems to grow on you more and more each time you listen to it.

@tonylarkin.bsky.socialFive Go Down to the Sea? - The Glee Club (1984)
Cork’s most eccentric band (which is saying something) was undoubtedly Five Go Down to the Sea? who combined a distinctly Cork sense of humour with Finbarr Donnelly’s extraordinary vocals. Occasionally bewildering, but never dull.
@jmszpila.bsky.socialAlfred Deller sings Elizabethan and Jacobean Music
Another free vinyl. I enjoy Deller's stuff with his group, but I'm not sure I'll enjoy his solo singing. I like music from this period (late Renaissance) but for some reason I'm not a huge fan of classical style solo singing.

@tonylarkin.bsky.socialJust for Kicks (1979)
Tunbridge Wells record fair find. Compilation of 12 bands from Dublin’s music scene at the end of the 1970s. Leads with an early recording of U2 and “Stories for Boys” but most of the other bands are now largely forgotten. Love it as a historical artefact.

@tonylarkin.bsky.socialThe Hi-Fives - Welcome to My Mind (1995)
California garage rock that sounds like The Who and The Kinks playing at double speed. Nothing particularly groundbreaking but sometimes short songs, buzzing guitars and sheer enthusiasm are all you need for a fun listen.

One record closer to having all the Jacks Mannequin albums on vinyl.
