And then after Open House, we released the guest into the maple outside our classroom window. We wonder if we’ll see them again, when they’re able to disappear so easily in green leaves. #NoticingNature

Willowherb and Web.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Nature seems to whisper: behold beauty.
Some may see a tangle, a bloom bedraggled.
Yet I was captivated. Held tight, my gaze drawn into a labyrinth of light.
Perhaps beauty asks not only to be seen, but to be felt.
Just popping by with a Postcard from Nature.
From the wilds of Madrigal, with love.
Feathers, berries, seedheads, fur, fungi and other found treasures, gathered around marks brushed in shaggy inkcap ink — in Nature’s true hand, perhaps.
A fascinating tree by the walking path inspired us to look closely at the crabapple trees near our Kindergarten yard. It has big, red apples at the top, while the rest of tree is covered in crabapples. It inspired our choice of poem for the week.

🦇 Our final #NoticingNature event of the year took us on a bat walk at Horspath Wildlife Conservation Site. Using bat detectors, we recorded common pipistrelles, serotines, Myotis species and possibly a brown long-eared bat too! Thanks to everyone who joined us this year.
Our poem of the week (Looking Closely) continues to inspire noticing, wondering & using descriptive language.
AJ came to show us an interesting leaf she found by the tennis court. Soon, other friends joined in to show and describe what they found around the yard. #NoticingNature #OutdoorLearning
Noticing Nature.
A sleepy bee amongst the sedum, gathering nectar with the last of the day’s energy.
I recognised something of myself in her.
Sleepy too, bumbling about a bit… but purposefully, in my own way.
Still noticing. Still making. Still seeking what nourishes me.
Discovered during outdoor learning - it’s summer, and most of the trees are still bright green, but one maple by the playground is dropping red leaves! #NoticingNature #TreeInquiry
